Tributes paid to martyrs of China consulate attack

A solemn ceremony was held at the Central Police Office Karachi to honor the police martyrs of the China Consulate terrorist attack on November 23, 2018. The event was graced by Sindh’s Minister for Interior, ZiaulHasanLanjar, who attended as the Chief Guest. The ceremony recognized the bravery of ASI Ashraf Dawood and Constable Aamir, who lost their lives in the attack.

China’s Consul General Yang Yungdong was also present, along with IG Sindh GhulamNabiMemon, Additional IG Karachi JavedAkhtarOdho, and other senior officials from the police department. Minister Lanjar paid tribute to the fallen heroes, stating, “The sacrifices of the Sindh police martyrs are a source of pride. The government of Sindh has consistently supported the Sindh Police Department, and the peace we enjoy today is due to their sacrifices.”

He emphasized the government’s commitment to addressing the issues faced by the families of martyrs promptly, and reassured that the families would always receive the government’s support. “Our swift response prevented a major catastrophe,” he added.

“We assure the Chinese community of our continued commitment to providing foolproof security across Sindh.” IG Sindh GhulamNabiMemon echoed these sentiments, highlighting the police’s dedication to the welfare of martyrs’ families. “Our martyrs’ sacrifices are invaluable assets and their exemplary deeds guide us,” Memon said. He also expressed gratitude for the ongoing support from the Chinese government and assured that protecting the public remains the police’s priority.

In a notable moment, the Chinese Consul General presented a commemorative medal to AIG Finance Syed Aziz for his prompt and effective response during the incident. The ceremony underscored the deep respect and gratitude for the martyrs and affirmed the commitment to maintaining security and supporting the families of those who gave their lives in the line of duty.
