Famous TikToker Ayesha Shamsu Bibi, famous for her account @gelamanaayesha302 was shot dead in Taxila Police Station, while her 15-year-old younger sister, Asmiya, sustained injuries in the attack.
Shamsu Bibi had been active on TikTok for around four years and had amassed more than 1.3 million followers; she was targeted in a firing incident in Taxila. She reportedly suffered a bullet wound to the neck.
Shamsu allegedly got a telephone call from Kashif Kashi and subsequently left her home in a car along with her sister and brother, according to the FIR registered on the complaint of her father.
Police said that when the vehicle reached near a private petrol pump, motorcycle-borne assailants opened fire on it. Shamsu Bibi was hit by bullets, causing her fatal injuries.
The vehicle went out of control and crashed into a dumper, leaving her teenage sister Asmiya injured. She was shifted to a hospital for medical treatment.
According to FIR, Shamsu Bibi was allegedly involved in a financial dispute with Kausar and Javed alias Shaheen. Her father told police that his daughter had been working on TikTok for several years.
FIR said that Shamsu Bibi had repeatedly told her family that she was receiving threats from the suspects. Her father has expressed suspicion that the suspects may have arranged her killing themselves or through unidentified accomplices, allegedly over the disputed money.
Taxila police registered a case and launched an investigation into the murder. Investigators are examining different aspects of the incident, including the alleged financial dispute, previous threats and the circumstances surrounding the shooting.
Police are also working to identify and arrest the suspected assailants and determine the exact motive behind the killing.
The murder of the TikToker, who had a following of more than a million people, has raised serious questions about the threats she allegedly faced before the attack and whether those warnings could have been acted upon earlier.
