ISLAMABAD – The bodies of three more climbers killed in an avalanche on Broad Peak were recovered and taken to the mountain’s base camp, a local private TV reported while citing the sources on Thursday.
The avalanche struck Broad Peak several days ago, leaving 10 climbers dead.
The sources said the latest three bodies were recovered from a challenging location at an altitude of around 5,000 metres before being transported to the base camp.
The body of a Nepali climber was among those recovered. The climber’s funeral rites are expected to be held in the United Kingdom.
The recovered bodies are expected to be transported by helicopter to Skardu today.
Meanwhile, the rescue teams have so far been unable to locate the bodies of two climbers who remain missing. They include Pakistani mountaineer Sohail Sakhi and a female climber.
Earlier, the bodies of eight climbers who went missing following the avalanche had been recovered, while the search for the remaining two continued.
