A group of three accused involved in more than 100 robberies from Sikhanwas arrested on Wednesday. The arrested suspects had escaped four days ago on August 21 after injuring police constable MansoorHussain during a firing incident. The three accused were engaged in looting from the citizens and opened fire when the police arrived. Case No. 465/2020 was registered against the accused under robbery and other provisions, including firing on police. The gang was involved in incidents in different areas of the city, including Sikhan, Sharafi Goth and Shah Latif. Police conducted a successful intelligence-based raid near Sawera Mill. Arrested accused Abdul Ghani used to provide information and weapons to other accomplices for possible robberies. Weapons used in the incident along with ammunition and two grenades were recovered from the possession of the accused. Police also seized a stolen motorcycle from the accused. Several serious cases have been registered against the arrested accused, including assault on police. Investigation has been launched into the allegations. Weapons recovered from the accused are being sent for forensics.
