Taxpayers encountered difficulties once again in submitting their income tax returns, according to President of the Karachi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI), Iftikhar Ahmed Sheikh. He highlighted that the Federal Board of Revenue’s (FBR) online tax return portal is not functioning properly, causing frustration among filers.
“Many individuals have reported system malfunctions while trying to submit their returns,” said Sheikh.
He urged Federal Board of Revenue’s (FBR) to improve the system’s efficiency to alleviate the taxpayers’ struggles, stressing that the current slow and complicated system discourages people from filing their returns. Sheikh called for a one-month extension in the tax return filing deadline, taking into account the ongoing issues. “Without this extension, many members of the business community will be unable to submit their returns by the September 30 deadline,” he warned.
