Sindh Education and Labour Minister Saeed Ghani has said that Sindh province is the first province in the country to issue Benazir Mazdoor Card for labourers this month. After the 18th Amendment, the Department of Labour is a purely provincial matter and the federation does not want to give the shares and assets to the provinces and that is why they illegally and unconstitutionally seized the EOBI and Workers Welfare Funds. The Benazir Bhutto Mazdoor Card will actually have the status of ATM Card, Health Card and Education Card of the workers, in the first phase of which this card will be issued to 630,000 workers across the province at present, while in the second and third stages, this card will be available to every worker who works in a factory, industry or drives a rickshaw, taxi or a road digger or a peddler. He said we have increased the number of workers and employers in all the governing bodies of the labor department and minimized government intervention. We will soon bring an amended law in the province, after which SESSI, Workers Welfare Board, EOBI and other such boards will all come under one umbrella and workers will get all the facilities and their rights. He expressed these views while addressing a function organized in his honour under the North Karachi Association of Trade and Industry on Saturday. The President of the Association Faisal Moeez, Shabbir Ismail, Sadiq Muhammad, Faraz Mirza, Syed Usman Ali, Kashif Ghauri, Syed Yasir Ali, Secretary Labor Abdul Rashid Solangi, Commissioner SESSIIshaq Mehar and others also addressed on the occasion. The president of the association also presented the shield of the association and the traditional Ajrak of Sindh to the provincial minister. Addressing the function, Sindh Minister for Education and Labor Saeed Ghani said that we have set up various committees in Sindh province to strengthen the link between employers and workers and provide facilities to them. Includes representatives of industries and industries owners, workers’ representatives. Saeed Ghani said that for the first time in Sindh province independent committees have been formed to resolve issues between the labor department and the employers so that if there is any problem between the employers and the department, it is resolved through this platform.
