The Steel Mills Action Committee and the leaders of the trade unions met in the Committee Room of the Sindh Secretariat under the chairmanship of the Cabinet Sub-Committee on the Pakistan Steel Mills Crisis nominated by Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah. The meeting was attended by Provincial Minister for Labor Saeed Ghani, Nasir Shah, Murtaza Wahab, Waqar Mehdi, Karamat Ali of Pillar and leaders of Steel Mills Action Committee. Speaking at a sit-in outside the residence of the Steel Mills CEO, the committee of provincial ministers on the occasion said that the workers have the right to protest peacefully, but they should not do anything that would harm them. The protest must be peaceful in any case. On this occasion, it was unanimously decided that a resolution would be brought in the Sindh Assembly to hand over the steel mill to the Sindh government immediately. The decision was made on the recommendation of trade union leaders. Talking to labor leaders, the provincial ministers said that the Sindh government has decided to write a letter to the federation on the steel mill issue, which is being drafted by legal adviser Murtaza Wahab, on which another detailed consultative meeting was convened two days later. In which trade union leaders will also be able to present their suggestions. The Sindh Cabinet sub-committee informed the participants that the trade union proposals would be included in the letter to the federation. The Sindh government would protect the rights of the workers in any case. Syed NasirHussain Shah while talking to the workers said that Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari has directed that recommendations be taken from the workers of the steel mill and they should be implemented. People lost their lives in the PIA movement a few years ago, they don’t want anything to be done that could cause harm. The protest should be kept peaceful as it is not possible for us to write a letter and the federal government should immediately hand over control of the steel mill to the Sindh government. This is a long struggle that we all have to do together. On this occasion, Karamat Ali, who is associated with Pillar, said that the movement will have to be run on a permanent basis, the federation will not back down so easily.
