Special Assistant to Punjab Chief Minister for Information Dr. Firdous Ashiq Awan has said that Sialkot not only pays billions of rupees in taxes to the provincial and central government but also earns foreign exchange of 2.5 billion for the country.
Talking to the representatives of Sialkot Chamber of Commerce, Commerce and Industry, Dr. Firdous Ashiq Awan said that the PTI government is doing a lot for Sialkot and its citizens and wants to do a lot more, We are committed to bringing this city on par with Lahore and other major cities. She said that Business community of Sialkot have set an example for the business community across the country by launching airports, dry ports and airlines. Dr. Firdous Ashiq Awan said that Punjab Intermediate City Improvement Program is being launched in the two cities with the financial support of Asian Development Bank and water supply and drainage projects will be completed keeping in view the needs of next 30 years.
Replacement of water supply lines in Sialkot at a cost of Rs. 16 billion, upgrade of sewerage system, supply of state-of-the-art solid waste management machinery, landfill, water treatment plants, bus terminal, upgradation of parks under Punjab Intermediate Cities Improvement Program.
Projects like gradation will not only solve the problems of 1 million citizens of Sialkot but also improve their living standards.
