SC rejects convicted senior accountants‘s appeal

The Supreme Court of Pakistan (SC) has rejected the appeal of Irfan Ahmed Sheikh, senior accountant of Thatta, for early retirement on charges of embezzling more than Rs 70 million from the Sindh Education Department. A division bench headed by Chief Justice of Pakistan Justice Gulzar Ahmed and comprising Justice Qazi Muhammad Amin Ahmed heard the appeal of Irfan Ahmed Sheikh against the decision of the Service Tribunal. Petitioner Irfan Ahmed Sheikh’s lawyer said that my client was a senior accountant in the Thatta Education Department, my client Irfan Sheikh’s service remains, he has retired on false charges, to transfer Rs 7 crore through fake ID. False accusation while the money has been returned The ID from which the money was transferred was used by all. The facts were ignored in the inquiry. The decision to retire early from the job should be annulled. Chief Justice Gulzar Ahmed remarked during the hearing that we do not know what happens in government accounts, it is a misappropriation of Rs 70 million, Rs 7 billion goes here and there, you say it is a human error but Rs 70 million is here and there. The lawyer of the late petitioner Irfan Sheikh told the court that the petition filed includes documents related to refund. Later, the Supreme Court in its decision rejected the petition of senior auditor Irfan Sheikh.
