In a swift operation based on intelligence, the Pakistan Rangers (Sindh) and the City Police successfully apprehended the notorious gang leader ImtiazMaghiry along with his two accomplices, Muhammad Ali alias Muhammad and Waseem alias Bablu, in the Chakiwara area of Lyari while they were in the act of robbing a citizen. The suspects were found in possession of firearms and a stolen motorcycle.
During initial investigations, the arrested individuals revealed that they were involved in multiple robberies across Karachi, using firearms to steal cash and mobile phones from citizens. They also confessed to stealing motorcycles, which they sold to WajidAbro and HoshiyarAbro. Notably, ImtiazMaghiry has close ties with drug dealer AltafAbro, also known as Thoba, who owns a drug den in Faqira Goth and sells stolen jewelry and other items in the market while providing refuge to criminals. Waseem Ali alias Bablu disclosed that he, along with his associates Kashmir Sheikh, AkramShar alias Sain, and Muhammad Ali, had been involved in armed robberies across various neighborhoods, targeting residents for their motorcycles, cash, and mobile phones.
Bablu admitted to stealing motorcycles parked in different areas using a master key. Meanwhile, Muhammad Ali revealed that he was part of a gang that included Jawad alias Javed, ShabbirAbro, ArifMagsi, YousufJiskani, and Sajjad alias Jani, responsible for robbing pedestrians and motorcycle riders at gunpoint in the Gulshan-e-Mimar and Lyari Town areas. He also confessed to injuring five individuals during their robberies when they faced resistance. The arrested suspects are habitual offenders, with Muhammad Ali having previously been arrested by the Manghopir Police in 2002.
Further investigations revealed that the gang, along with an unidentified accomplice known as Sona, was involved in a robbery on June 2024, where they stole 2.5 lakh rupees at gunpoint from a shop in MalakChowrangi and 15 tolas of gold along with 10 lakh rupees from Faqira Goth. The arrested gang members, along with their weapons and stolen goods, have been handed over to the police for further legal action. Operations are ongoing to apprehend other accomplices involved in their criminal activities.
