LAHORE – The Punjab government has launched the Pakistan’s first-ever mobile Counterterrorism Department, which will serve as a fully equipped, on-the-go counterterrorism office.
This mobile unit is designed to enhance the real-time monitoring and coordination of security operations in challenging and dynamic environments.
The mobile van is equipped with cutting-edge technology, enabling authorities to manage and oversee security situations efficiently, especially in areas that are difficult to access or prone to emergencies.

Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif inspected the van as she shared a video on her Facebook page.
“Pakistan’s first mobile Counterterrorism Department is now on the move. This van will function as a fully equipped counterterrorism office on the go, enabling real-time monitoring of security operations in challenging and unusual situations. Punjab continues to lead the way and set new benchmarks in technology and innovation,” she wrote.

Meanwhile, a crucial meeting of the Punjab Cabinet Committee on Law and Order was held under the chairmanship of Committee Head, Khawaja Salman Rafique. The meeting was attended by provincial ministers Chaudhry Shafay Hussain and Sohaib Ahmed Bhurt, along with relevant officials.
The primary focus of the meeting was a comprehensive review of ongoing efforts to eliminate illegal weapons from the province. The committee discussed the progress of the current crackdown on illegal arms and issued directives to relevant authorities to intensify their operations.
Khawaja Salman Rafique emphasized the need for swift and decisive action to rid Punjab of illegal weapons, which pose a significant threat to public safety and security. The committee’s push for an accelerated crackdown underscores the provincial government’s commitment to enhancing law and order in the region.
