LAHORE – The Punjab government has planned to launch a new electric bike scheme for teachers across the province after it successfully executed the same for students of different classes.
The initiative aims to provide teachers with convenient travel options while reducing their daily expenses.
The provincial government, under the leadership of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, has distributed hundreds of electric bikes among students on easy installments.
Punjab E-Bike Scheme Installment Plan
Under this proposed scheme, reports said teachers will be able to receive an electric bike after paying an initial installment.
The remaining payments will be adjusted in easy installments at the educational institution level, ensuring minimal financial burden on teachers.
Free Scooters for Women
In addition, under the direction of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, a special relief package for female teachers is also being considered.
This package includes a proposal to provide free scooters to women working in the public sector as teachers.
Provincial Education Minister Rana Sikandar Hayat emphasized that the government is prioritizing the welfare of teachers, and providing travel facilities for female teachers is an important step to ease their professional responsibilities.
Officials stated that this proposed facility will benefit female teachers working in government educational institutions who meet the prescribed service standards.
Expected Rollout
The provincial government is yet to share the details regarding rollout of the scheme. However, it is expected to begin in New Year 2026.
