KARACHI – Karachi faced a fuel shortage on Friday (today) after petroleum stocks depleted due to the Pakistan Petroleum Dealers Association (PPDA) strike.
The strike is not being observed countrywide as there is division in the Pakistan Petroleum Dealers’ Association. The fuel stations are closed in Karachi and in different parts of the country.
The strike which started at 6 am today’s morning caused trouble to the citizens of Karachi.
The supply of petroleum products from Pakistan State Oil (PSO) and other oil marketing companies’ terminals is continuing.
Meanwhile, the Oil Tanker Owners Association distanced itself from the petroleum dealers’ strike. The association’s president Shams Shahwani stated that fuel is still being supplied to railways, airports and the power plants.
On Thursday, PSO announced that it would ensure the supply of petroleum products nationwide, confirming that its supply chain remains fully operational. PSO assured that petrol stations would stay stocked despite the strike.
Oil supply is being ensured,” said the PSO Spokesperson, adding that the PSO is always ready to serve the people.
Earlier, the negotiations between the government and the All Pakistan Petroleum Dealers Association failed, with the association continuing its countrywide strike on Friday (today).
