ISLAMABAD – Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) senior leader Senator Irfan Siddiqui has ruled out no-confidence motion against Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) government.

“PML-N will not support or initiate any step that could push Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) into a political crisis,” said Senator Siddiqui while talking to a local private TV on Thursday.

The statement came at a time when speculations about toppling the PTI’s KP government were at the peak while CM Gandapur had challenged the state authorities to topple his government constitutionally and legally.

Gandapur had said that he would quit the politics if his government was constitutionally toppled.

However, Senator Siddiqui said that there was no such plan.

“We will not resort to any tactic that could destabilize Khyber Pakhtunkhwa,” he said while talking to a local private TV.

He said, “There is no discussion at any high level about bringing a vote of no confidence,”.

Commenting on the recent meeting between the KP Governor and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, Siddiqui said it would be wrong to label the meeting as part of any conspiracy. “A vote of no confidence is a constitutional and legal mechanism. The PTI founder himself has been its target in the past,” he added.

The PML-N senator also acknowledged the right of all political parties, including the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), to hold protests.

“Protest is a constitutional and democratic right but if anyone attempts to spread chaos under the guise of protest, the government will take action,” he warned.

It may be mentioned here that for the past few days, the speculation has been rife regarding a potential no-confidence motion against the KP government, although no formal move has materialized so far.
