Senator Rana Maqbool Ahmad of Pakistan Muslim League-N passed away in the provincial capital on Tuesday after a brief illness. He was admitted to Combined Military Hospital for treatment two days ago and passed away in Lahore on Tuesday. The funeral prayers of Rana Maqbool will be offered today.
He served as the Special Security Prosecution Punjab and the provincial police chief of Sindh before joining the politics.
The Senate website states that Ahmad was elected to the upper house of parliament on a general seat. His tenure began in March 2018 and was supposed to continue till 2024. He was the chairman of the Senate Standing Committee on Cabinet Secretariat. In a statement, PML-N president and former prime minister Shehbaz Sharif expressed grief over the politician’s death.
