Prime Minister Imran Khan on Thursday took notice of the rape of a minor girl in Karachi and the gang-rape and robbery of a woman on the Lahore motorway.
The premier has also sought reports from Sindh and Punjab’s police chiefs.
“The protection of women is the first priority and responsibility of the government,” PM Imran said, adding, “Such brutality and bestiality cannot be allowed in any civilised society.” He said that such incidents are a violation of the social values and a disgrace to society.
Subsequently, the premier ordered the police to bring those involved in the incident to justice as soon as possible. He has directed the authorities concerned to take steps to make laws more effective in preventing abuse of innocent children and women.
On Tuesday night, two robbers had allegedly gang-raped a mother of two on the motorway within Gujjarpura police’s jurisdiction when she was driving to Gujranwala in her car and forced to stop at the Gujjarpura section of the motorway after running out of fuel.
The Punjab government has claimed to have arrested 12 individuals suspected of involvement in the gang-rape.
The police will conduct DNA tests of 12 persons including father and son to expose the perpetrators of heinous crime, investigation teams have collected important evidence from the scene, IG Punjab said that the police will struggle until justice is done.
The tragic incident of gang rape of the woman in front of children took place on Sialkot Motorway within the limits of Gujjarpura police station yesterday. According to sources, the woman was going to Gujranwala from Lahore in a car with her children when the vehicle ran out of petrol. The woman got out of the car in distress and was busy calling for help when two dacoits arrived, the dacoits tortured the woman and then forcibly took her to the nearby forest. The woman was gang-raped in front of the children. The robbers looted Rs 100,000 in cash, gold jewellery and other items and fled.
IG Punjab Inam Ghani took notice of the alleged rape and robbery of a woman on the motorway. IG Punjab Inam Ghani formed 20 teams to investigate the Gujjarpura incident and arrest the accused, which are investigating the tragic incident from different angles. Two separate teams led by SP CIA and Divisional SP are also active. Police arrested 12 suspects in Gujjarpura rape case, including father and son. The teams recovered DNA from the spot. CCTV footage was obtained from the cameras and geo-fencing was also done.
Meanwhile, Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Usman Bazdar also took notice of the tragic incident and demanded a report from IG Punjab. The Punjab Chief Minister has ordered immediate arrest of the accused and said that all possible justice should be provided to the victim. Why did the woman go out at night with the children, why didn’t she put the petrol in the car, CCPO Lahore Omar Sheikh raised questions on the oppressed woman. He further said that why the woman did not go from GT Road.
In Karachi, a five-year-old girl whose body was found in PIB Colony Saturday night, had been raped and bludgeoned to death with a heavy stone.
The minor’s body was found wrapped in a sheet in a garbage dump near Essa Nagri. She had disappeared after leaving her residence to buy confectionery Friday morning.
