ISLAMABAD – Prime Minister Imran Khan said on Monday that Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) has been involved in influencing the country’s courts.
The premier lashed out at PML-N after the former chief justice of Gilgit-Baltistan Rana Shamim, according to a media report, alleged ex-chief justice of Pakistan (CJP) Saqib Nisar of issuing directives to an Islamabad High Court judge to keep Nawaz Sharif and Maryam Nawaz in jail till 2018 general elections.
PM Imran Khan in a meeting of party leaders reviewed the explosive allegations made by Shamim in an affidavit before an Oath Commissioner.
Adviser to PM on Interior and accountability Shahzad Akbar, and Barrister Ali Zafar briefed the meeting on legal aspects of the affidavit.
Akbar accused PML-N of designing the plan, adding that the Shamim’s affidavit aimed to make cases against PML-N leadership controversial.
