Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Thursday firmly presented Pakistan’s stance on the situation in Palestine at the Shanghai Cooperation Organization and SCO Plus summits, urging the international community to hold Israel accountable and bring it to justice.

The prime minister, passionately advocating for Gaza, stated that Israel was engaged in the genocide of Palestinians. He cited the International Court of Justice, which has also classified Israel’s actions as genocide.

“Israel is wreaking havoc in Gaza and committing war crimes,” said Prime Minister Sharif. He called on the international community to intensify efforts for an immediate ceasefire and ensure humanitarian aid access to Gaza.

Shehbaz Sharif emphasised that Pakistan believes all long-standing disputes should be resolved according to United Nations resolutions.

The prime minister lamented that around 37,000 innocent people, mostly women and children, had been martyred in Palestine, with over two million Palestinians displaced by Israel. “Pakistan supports a two-state solution to the Palestinian issue based on pre-1967 borders, with the establishment of a Palestinian state with Al-Quds as its capital,” he added.
