PIA, Pakistan Hindu Council sign MoU to promote religious tourism

Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) and Pakistan Hindu Council have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to promote religious tourism in the country.

The agreement was signed by PIA’s Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Air Marshal Arshad Malik and the council’s head Dr Ramesh Kumar, under which the both signatories would work together for promotion of religious tourism, a news release said on Saturday.

The national flag carrier would operate special flights within the country, to and from other destinations including the United Arab Emirates (UAE) to transport Hindu Yatrees.

Dr Ramesh appreciated the authorities concerned to facilitate the visiting Hindus in immigration and travel in a comfortable and secure environment.

He said the foreign guests, who arrived on a similar flight last week, had greatly acknowledged the warm hospitality extended by Pakistani authorities and the public to them.

The PIA CEO said there were a number of important, sacred and workshop places of different religions, adding the national flag carrier would provide access to Hindus to their sacred places located in different cities of Pakistan.
