ISLAMABAD – The federal government will declare the new petrol prices in Pakistan on December 31 for upcoming month of January 2026 with consumers expecting a big cut on the eve of the New Year.
The Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) sends a summary to the government, recommending a change in petroleum prices in line with the trend in international market.
During the outgoing month of December 2025, the oil prices saw a significant drop Brent crude futures and US West Texas Intermediate crude registering over 2% decline on Friday only amid looming global supply surplus and hopes for Ukraine peace deal.
After previous fortnightly review conducted on December 15, the ex-refinery petrol price in Pakistan stands at Rs145.66 as compared to previous Rs156.11, reflecting a dip of Rs11 per litre.
Similarly, the ex-refinery price of high speed diesel dropped to Rs155.35 from Rs166.92, marking a dip of Rs9.57 per litre since December 15.
Expected Petrol Prices in Pakistan from January 2026
The petrol and diesel prices can see a big drop in upcoming fortnightly review for January 2026. If the above mentioned calculations are executed, the price of petrol and diesel is likely to drop by Rs11 and Rs9.57 per litre, respectively.
The government will take the final decision after reviewing the proposals to be sent by Ogra.
Current Petrol Pieces in Pakistan
Currently, the petrol price stands at Rs263.45 while high speed diesel is available for Rs265.65 till December 31, 2025.
