Former New Zealand cricket player Grant Bradburn has been appointed as the new head coach of national cricket team following a robust recruitment process. He will lead the team’s coaching panel for next two years. Bradburn served as head coach of the side during recently concluded home series against New Zealand on consultancy basis.

The Babar Azam-led side defeated the tourists 4-1 in five-match One-Day International series that took them to top of the ICC Rankings in the format. In our view, Bradburn is a right choice on part of PCB management as having vast experience of coaching he has previously served as fielding coach of the team besides remaining attached with national cricket team. Hence, he is well versed about strengths and weaknesses of the national side. Bradburn’s appointment has come after Mickey Arthur, was most recently appointed as team’s director. Arthur has also previously served as head coach of Greenshirts. Former South Africa cricketer Andrew Puttick has signed a two-year-long contract as batting coach. These appointments indicate how much focus Najam Sethi led PCB is giving to putting together a highly qualified coaching panel so that players can benefit from their experiences and dominate world cricket in all three formats. Of late, Greenshirts have shown the consistency of good performances. There appears to be a change of culture in the team as it is not only putting up good targets but also showing the skills to chase down big targets. Since our strength has always been the bowling, we were never regarded as best chasers. But this is no longer the case as now both batters and bowlers are putting up superb performances, and there is a need to keep this momentum till the fifty over world cup due later this year. We are confident that new coaching panel will help the Greenshirts further raise the level of their game and again lift the World Cup Trophy.
