LAHORE – Passport is the mandatory travel document for Pakistani citizens who intent to travel abroad for studies, jobs or business as without it they will not be allowed to board flights.
The Directorate General of Immigration and Passports is the competent authority to issue passports to the citizens if they meeting the requirements and pay the fixed fee.
Passport is the only document that confirms the identity of the citizen abroad of Pakistan, as well as, realizes his/her right to exit from the country and entry into the country.
For some months, people who were applying for passports in normal and urgent categories have been facing massive delay in issuance of their travel document as backlog was increasing due to low passport printing capacity.
Most of the applicants were forced to apply in the Fast Track category with higher fees due to massive delay in normal and urgent categories.
Pakistanis can now apply for passport from any City after new changes
The authorities are taking measures to address the issue and in latest development they have imported 10 desktop printing machines to increase the capacity.
With the new printing machines, the applicants in normal and urgent categories are expected to receive their passports on time. Following is the fee structure for both categories:
Normal and Urgent Passport Fee in November
The passport fee in normal and urgent categories stands unchanged as of November 2024. The fee for 36-page ordinary passport for 5 years stands unchanged at Rs 4,500, while the urgent processing fee stands at Rs7,500.
For 10-year validity period, the fee for 36-page passport stands at Rs 6,700 , with the urgent fee is Rs 11,200.
For 72-page passport for 5 years, people will have to pay Rs 8,200 for normal processing and Rs 13,500 for urgent processing.
For 100-page passport valid for 10 years, the new fee fixed at Rs12,400 for normal category and Rs20,200 for urgent processing.
