Ambassador of the Republic of Korea (ROK), Mr Park Kijun has expressed his country’s readiness to support Pakistan in technological and scientific advancement and to achieve its socio-economic targets. He was addressing the annual reception organized at the lush, green backyard of his residence marking South Korea’s National Foundation Day and the Armed Forces Day.

Caretaker Federal Minister for Planning, Development & Special Initiative Muhammad Sami Saeed was the Chief Guest on the occasion while Governor of Sindh, Kamran Tessori, Caretaker Federal Minister for Information & Broadcasting Murtaza Solangi, Senator Zeeshan Khanzada, Senator Keeshoo Bai, Federal Secretary for Interprovincial Coordination, Ahmed Hanif Orakzai, Additional Secretary, Ministry of Foreign Affairs Ameer Khurram Rathore, Chairman and CEO of Pakistan Observer, Mr Faisal Zahid Malik, diplomats, members of civil society and a large number of the retired and serving officials of the Pakistan Army, Foreign Ministry and representatives of business community from Korea and Japan attended the reception.

While congratulating Ambassador Park Kijun, Chief Guest, Federal Minister Sami Saeed said Pakistan and Korea enjoyed four decades of bilateral cooperation in economic, education, industrial, science & technology, energy, IT, defence, maritime and business sectors.

In the days to come, I am sure this bond of friendship will further strengthen and we shall see increasing volume of bilateral trade between the two countries. The minister said there was a huge potential for cooperation in diverse areas and the two sides should take maximum advantage of this for the collective good of their people.

He shared some fond memories of his visit to the Korea Development Institute (KDI), the leading think tank that laid down the foundation for economic development and advancement of Korea. Indeed there are lessons to be learnt from Korea’s journey towards success and Pakistan looks for enhanced bilateral cooperation, he said.

What made the reception different from the typical national day events was the super-hit Taekwondo and K-Pop performances by the Pakistani youth.
