Doctors, paramedics and nurses at the CDA hospital, Capital Hospital, are not sufficiently-equipped to deal with coronavirus (Covid-19) suspected patients or to conduct tests on them.
An awkward situation took place on Wednesday when a suspected patient of Covid-19 reached the hospital and requested the doctors there to examine her.
Moment after her appearance at the hospital, the staff and doctors of the hospital got panicked and left the hospital in a hurry.
According to sources the hospital is poorly equipped and without testing kits or personal protective equipment (PPE) and there was no arrangement taken for the suspected patients to get tested.
The female patient is the wife of a Director of the CDA and was taken to a room that is given the name of Isolation Ward. According to sources, there was no separate entrance or exit for the suspected patient of coronavirus and the hospital administration referred her to the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) for further tests, the sources further said.
The health officials fear absence of testing kits and Standard Operating Procedure and other protocols could result in further spread of the virus threatening the lives of the staff of the hospital as well.
It may be mentioned here that a few days earlier too a suspected patient of Covid-19 was reported the Chairman CDA office but no further preventive action was taken.
Meanwhile, a spokesperson of the CDA clarified that the said patient was an old patient of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease and has been receiving treatment from Capital Hospital for long time.
She was admitted in Capital Hospital on Tuesday in Officers Ward and as precautions the doctors on Wednesday decided to get her Corona Virus Test and shifted the patient to Isolation Ward.
