WELLINGTON – New Zealand Cricket (NZC) has unveiled its list of centrally contracted players for the upcoming season, with 20 cricketers awarded contracts. Among the new inclusions is Mohammad Abbas, a Pakistani-origin player who made his international debut earlier this year in the series against Pakistan.

It marks the first time Abbas has been awarded a central contract, and makes his selection a notable moment for diversity in New Zealand cricket.

Also receiving their maiden central contracts are Zak Foulkes, Matt Henry, and Adithya Ashok, and reflected a focus on nurturing emerging talent within the national setup.

Notably absent from this year’s contracted players are Ish Sodhi, Ajaz Patel, and Josh Clarkson, who have not been offered deals for the new season.
