ISLAMABAD – People across Pakistan are set to enjoy a three-day break next month as the upcoming public holiday on August 14 will be followed by the regular weekend holidays.
The Independence Day holiday falls on Friday, August 14, while Saturday, August 15, and Sunday, August 16, are scheduled as weekly days off.
For most government employees who receive two weekly holidays, the arrangement will provide an extended weekend with three consecutive holidays.
The holiday schedule is expected to give employees an opportunity to enjoy a longer break from routine activities during the mid-August period.
The nation will celebrate the 80th Independence Day with a renewed pledge to work with spirit of Pakistan Movement to make country a true Islamic welfare state.
The day used dawn with thirty-one-gun salute at the Federal Capital and twenty-one gun salute at provincial headquarters.
Special prayers are offered in mosques for peace, solidarity and prosperity of the country.
The main flag hosting ceremony is expected to be held at the Pakistan Monument in Islamabad at eight in the morning. Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif will unfurl the national flag.
