ISLAMABAD – As global oil markets witnessing price drop, Pakistani consumers got another blow with petrol and diesel prices moving upward. According to the Petroleum Division, OGRA revised ex-depot prices under the government’s petroleum pricing mechanism.
New Fuel Prices
| Product | Previous Price | New Price | Increase |
|---|---|---|---|
| Petrol | Rs 334.18/litre | Rs 335.81/litre | +Rs 1.63 |
| High-Speed Diesel | Rs 386.83/litre | Rs 388.38/litre | +Rs 1.55 |
As tensions between the United States and Iran showed signs of easing, crude oil prices witnessed one of the biggest single-day declines of 2026. Brent crude crashed 11.3% to $85.87 per barrel, while US West Texas Intermediate (WTI) slipped nearly 7% to $82.61 per barrel, marking the steepest daily decline since April 8.
The market reaction came after investors breathed a sigh of relief over reduced fears of supply disruptions following a temporary pause in US-Iran military tensions.
The contrast between international and domestic markets has sparked criticism, with consumers questioning why falling global oil prices often take time to appear at Pakistani fuel pumps, while increases seem to arrive with much faster speed.
