The Director Generals of Military Operations of Pakistan and India held a detailed conversation via hotline on Monday to review the May 10 ceasefire agreement.

The exchange marks a rare instance of direct military communication amid heightened tensions between the two countries that follows recent tensions that saw the two South Asian neighbours on the brink of full-scale war.

According to official sources, the two sides reaffirmed their commitment to cease all firing and military actions by land, air, and sea, following four days of intense drone and missile strikes against each other.

The contact between the two military officials came on the heels of the agreement reached during a call on Saturday afternoon, in which both sides agreed to observe a complete ceasefire.

Making the announcement on Saturday evening, Indian Foreign Secretary Misri said the director generals of military operations of India and Pakistan agreed on the understanding during a call on Saturday afternoon, and the next talks are scheduled at 12 noon on May 12.
