MUSCAT – Omani authorities announced new visa categories including a ten-day visa and a one-month visa, both available free of charge and issued through cruise ship agents. The new visas aim to facilitate easier access for cruise visitors to Oman and support the cruise tourism sector.
Tourism in Middle Eastern nation of 4.5 million is growing, with massive visitors expected. The country’s tourism sector’s growth is supported by accessibility and demand for experiential travel.
To further boost tourism industry, the country offered a new policy offering a complimentary 10-day visit visa for passengers and crew aboard cruise ships arriving in Oman. The initiative was approved by Oman’s Inspector General of Police and Customs.
Under new regulations, a 10-day visa will be available for tourists and crew members upon request from the cruise ship agent, with the condition that entry must be made within 30 days of the visa being issued. Additionally, a one-month visa will also be offered under similar terms.
This policy shift is viewed as a significant effort to attract more visitors to Oman. The new regulations include the following amendments to the Executive Regulations of the Foreigners’ Residence Law.
