PUC to observe ‘Youm-e-Syedna Umar bin Abdul Aziz’ on Friday

Pakistan Ulema Council (PUC) would observe, ‘Youm-e-Syedna Umar bin Abdul Aziz’ on Friday to condemn the desecration of grave of eighth Umayyad caliph. Chairman Pakistan Ulema Council (PUC) Hafiz Muhammad Tahir Mehmood Ashrafi said the leadership of various religious schools of thought and political organizations have strongly condemned the desecration of the shrine of Hazrat Umar bin Abdul Aziz (R.A), said a news release.
Speaking on the occasion Ulema said that extremists and terrorists used to desecrate holy places of Muslims with sole objectives to make anarchy and chaos within Muslim Ummah. Desecration of the remains of Hazrat Umar bin Abdul Aziz (RA) and his wife manifested that extremists and terrorists have no linkage with Islam, Muslims and teachings of Quran-o-Sunnah.
They urged Muslim Ummah to get united against the menace of extremism, terrorism, sectarianism and to resolve the burning issues of Muslim world relating Kashmir and Palestine. They demanded of government and Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) to take notice on the extremists and Takfeeri elements responsible for this inhuman act.
The clerics lauded commitment of Saudi authorities and people of Saudi Arabia to ensure sanctity of Harmain Al-Sharifain and for serving pilgrims visiting Saudi Arabia for Hajj and Umrah. Responding to a question, Hafiz Tahir Ashrafi said that prevailing increase in suspects of COVID-19 is very alarming. He asked public to take preventive measures against coronavirus. Responding to another question, he said that consultation process to allow the opening of schools and seminaries should be started soon.
The academic year for students of seminaries could be wasted; therefore local boards of Madaris should be allowed to take exams of students at local seminaries. He condemned the murder of Hafiz Samiur Rehman in Kasur and demanded the authorities concerned to take prompt action against the culprits.
