NEPRA has approved K-Electric’s petition for a provisional monthly Fuel Charge Adjustment (FCA) of Rs 3.03 per unit for July 2024. This adjustment will appear in customer bills for December 2024. Fuel charge adjustments occur as utilities experience shifts in global fuel prices and the energy generation mix. NEPRA reviews these adjustments, ensuring that costs align with international market conditions before reflecting them in customer bills.
Notably, when global fuel prices drop, customers also benefit from reduced FCAs. The rates are set by NEPRA and communicated through the Federal Government. According to NEPRA’s recent decision, the adjustment will apply to most consumer categories but will exclude Electric Vehicle Charging Stations (EVCS), lifeline consumers, and prepaid metering consumers.
