National Savings Revises Profit Rates From January 2026 Details Inside

ISLAMABAD – The Central Directorate of National Savings has revised profit rates for various certificates and schemes with new rates taking effect from January 5, 2026.

The updated returns apply to multiple saving instruments, including Behbood Savings and Defence Savings certificates and special accounts.

The profits are subject to applicable taxes and zakat deductions under existing rules.

Special Savings Certificate and Account

Profit rates for Special Savings Certificates and Accounts have been revised downward. For profit numbers one to five, the annual profit rate stands at 10.2 percent, translating into Rs 5,100 per Rs 100,000 every six months.

The sixth and final profit installment offers an annual return of 11 percent, amounting to Rs 5,500 per Rs 100,000 for the six-month period.

Profits are paid after every six months and are subject to withholding tax for filers and non-filers, along with zakat deductions where applicable.

Defence Savings Certificate

The Defence Savings Certificate continues to offer increasing profit percentages over its tenure. The profit structure starts at 9 percent in the first year and gradually rises each year.

By the fifth year, the profit reaches 58 percent, while the sixth year offers 76 percent. The rate further increases to 97 percent in the seventh year, 122 percent in the eighth year, 151 percent in the ninth year, and peaks at 186 percent upon maturity in the tenth year. Applicable withholding tax and zakat deductions apply as per rules.

Regular Income Certificate

Under the revised rates, the Regular Income Certificate now provides a monthly return of Rs880 on an investment of Rs 100,000. This equals an annual profit rate of 10.56 percent. The income from this scheme remains subject to withholding tax for both filers and non-filers.

Behbood Savings Certificate

The Behbood Savings Certificate remains available exclusively to widows, senior citizens, and physically challenged individuals.

The revised rate offers a monthly income of Rs1,040 per Rs100,000 invested, equivalent to an annual return of 12.48 percent. The minimum investment limit is Rs5,000, while the maximum allowable investment is Rs 7.5 million.

Pensioner’s Benefit Account

The Pensioner’s Benefit Account continues to provide returns specifically for retired government employees. Investors receive Rs1,040 per month on every Rs 100,000, matching an annual profit rate of 12.48 percent. The minimum investment requirement is Rs 10,000, and the maximum limit is set at Rs 7.5 million.

Shuhada’s Family Welfare Account

Families of Shuhada are eligible for the Shuhada’s Family Welfare Account, which offers the same monthly return of Rs 1,040 per Rs 100,000 investment, translating into 12.48 percent annually. The investment limits range from a minimum of Rs 10,000 to a maximum of Rs 7.5 million.

Short-Term Savings Certificates

Profit rates for Short-Term Savings Certificates have also been updated. The three-month certificate now offers an annual return of 10.32 percent, providing Rs 2,580 per Rs 100,000.

The six-month certificate carries a 10.36 percent annual return, yielding Rs 5,180 per Rs 100,000.

The one-year certificate offers a 10.68 percent annual return, with earnings of Rs 10,680 per Rs 100,000. These returns are subject to withholding tax as per filer and non-filer status.
