LAHORE – Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has directed the officials to immediately release the second installment of the “Apni Chhat, Apna Ghar” project.
The chief minister issued the order while chairing a meeting to review development projects across the province.
CM Maryam was told that construction of 700 houses is underway on a daily basis. It was also shared that construction and repair projects worth Rs204 billion in 52 cities will commence by February 22.
The meeting was briefed that repair and rehabilitation of wastewater treatment plants, filter plants, and water filtration plants will be completed by June 30.
The chief minister apologised to the public for inconvenience caused due to road excavation during development work.
Addressing complaints related to filter plants, Maryam Nawaz directed that water filtration plants be installed on a priority basis in affected areas to address public grievances.
She also instructed that construction and rehabilitation of water bottling plants and water filtration plants be completed by June 30.
The chief minister stated that clean drinking water would be provided at people’s doorsteps in Dera Ghazi Khan, Khushab, Rahim Yar Khan, and Bahawalpur.
She further directed early completion of desilting of the Lahore Canal and set targets for drainage of rainwater after rainfall.
The meeting was informed that under 1,529 road rehabilitation projects, construction and repair work will be carried out on 4,031 kilometers of roads.
Under the Model Village Project, work has already started in 224 villages across Punjab, while water supply schemes, children’s parks, and streetlights will be installed in 469 villages.
For effective monitoring of projects, the chief minister directed the establishment of a live dashboard. She ordered completion of the first phase of the Lahore Development Project and directed that the second phase be completed by April 30. She also instructed that development projects in seven cities be completed by April.
