Nasir Kazmi remembered on 93rd birth anniversary

Renowned Urdu poet Nasir Kazmi was remembered on his 93rd birth anniversary on Sunday. Ceremonies were organized in various cities across the country to pay tributes to the legend poet.
Nasir Kazmi was born on December 8, 1925 at Ambala in British-India, Nasir Kazmi was considered as one of the greatest poets of his era.
He received his early education from Ambala, Simla and Lahore. With ambitions to become a journalist, he worked with Auraq-e-Nau as an editor and became editor-in-chief of the magazine in 1952.
Later, the famous poet was associated with Radio Pakistan and other literary publications and organizations.
Nasir Kazmi started his poetic journey in 1940 and wrote romantic poems and sonnets. He used to follow the style of Akhtar Sherani. He was also a great admirer of Mir Taqi Mir’s poetry.
Kazmi’s poetry has inspired several songs in dramas during the PTV s golden era and Pakistani films.
The legendary poet breathed his last on March 2, 1972 suffering from stomach cancer.
Four of his books were tragically published after his death in Lahore.
