AmeerJamaat-e-Islami Pakistan, Engr Hafiz NaeemurRehman, criticized the Sindh government for its alleged inaction against the rising crime wave, particularly armed robberies, plaguing the city. He emphasized that lawlessness prevails as the authorities fail to uphold law and order. With the recent surge in armed robberies resulting in fatalities, including the tragic death of 70-year-old Syed Hameed Ali near North Karachi Children’s Hospital, concerns over citizen safety have heightened. NaeemurRehman accused the government and law enforcement agencies of neglecting their duty to protect citizens, allowing criminals to roam freely.
He questioned the source of sophisticated weaponry in the hands of criminals and urged for accountability within the police force. NaeemurRehman announced plans for post-Eid protests, including a sit-in at the Chief Minister’s House, demanding action against rising crime rates. These remarks were made following his attendance at the funeral prayers of Syed Hameed Ali, where he engaged with media representatives. Syed Hameed Ali, a longstanding member of Jamaat-e-Islami, was fatally shot while attempting to thwart a robbery, exemplifying the dire consequences faced by residents amidst unchecked criminal activity.
