Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI)-supported candidate Aijaz Khan Swati has announced his decision to align with the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP). In a recorded message, Aijaz Khan Swati expressed his unconditional decision to join PPP, citing his constituents’ welfare as his primary motivation. He expressed hope that the Bilawal-led party would earnestly strive for the betterment of the people he represents.  “My allegiance to PPP is driven by the interests of my constituents,” he affirmed.

Swati secured victory in PS-88 with 17,580 votes, surpassing PPP’s Muzammil Shah who garnered 12,762 votes in the electoral contest.

Notably, Aijaz Khan Swati becomes the second PTI-backed elected member to formally part ways with the party, following Wasim Qadir, who joined the Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N) after winning from NA-121 Lahore.

With Swati’s inclusion, PPP’s count of general seats in the Sindh Assembly is set to increase to 86. The party had initially secured 84 general seats in the February 8th General Elections.
