Monsoon tree plantation drive gains momentum

Monsoon Tree Plantation Campaign in Karachi, inaugurated by Chief Secretary Sindh Syed AsifHaider Shah on July 30, is progressing well and will continue until August 31.

Over the past week, 36,139 trees have been planted as part of this initiative. Deputy Commissioners have submitted performance reports of the tree-planting efforts in their respective districts to the Commissioner of Karachi. Commissioner Syed HasanNaqvi has instructed that only environmentally friendly plants be used.

He also emphasized the importance of strengthening cooperation with institutions, organizations, and citizens to ensure the campaign’s success. The campaign aims to plant 200,000 trees, with ongoing monitoring by the Commissioner’s Office.

The reports from Deputy Commissioners indicate active participation from Assistant Commissioners across all subdivisions. They are using the Kobo Toolbox app to upload daily updates on the campaign’s progress. Commissioner Commissioner of Karachi.

Commissioner Syed HasanNaqvi  stated that the campaign would help moderate Karachi’s climate and urged all involved to ensure the target is met by August 31.

The special cell established in the Commissioner’s Office is monitoring the tree plantation campaign through the Power BI App. A dashboard has been created through Power BI, which can also be viewed by citizens to get information on plantation.
