Muttahida Majlis-e-Ulema (MMU) Jammu and Kashmir, an association of religious, social and educational organizations, in Indian illegally occu-pied Jammu and Kashmir, has once again expressed its serious concern over the continued house detention of its founder and patron Mirwaiz Umar Farooq.

Mirwaiz Umar Farooq has been under house arrest since August 05, 2019 when the Modi-led regime repealed special status of occupied Kashmir.

The MMU in a statement issued in Srinagar said the authoritarian and harsh step of the occupation authorities to keep the Mirwaiz under continued detention is a violation of his religious and human rights. It is also a direct interference in the religious practices and traditions of the Muslims of the valley, causing deep hurt to their feelings and sentiments, it added.

The MMU said besides Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, religious scholars Molvi Abdul Rashid Dawoodi and Maulana Mushtaq Veeri have also been de-tained. It again appealed to the authorities to release Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and other religious scholars, especially in view of the arrival of the holy month of Rabiyul Awwal so that the Mirwaiz continues disseminating religious teachings and moral values in the society.

The constituent organisations of MMU include Anjuman Auqaf Jamia Masjid Srinagar, Darul Uloom Raheemiya Bandipora, Grand Mufti’s Muslim Personal Law Board, Anjuman Sharie Shiaan, Jamiat Ahle Hadeeth, Jamaat-e-Islami, Karwaan-e-Islami, Ittehad-ul-Muslimeen, Anjuman-ul-Islam, Anjuman Tableegh-e-Islam, Jamiat Hamdaniyyah, Anjuman Ulema-e-Ahnaaf, Darul Uloom Qasmiya, Darul Uloom Bilaliya, Anjuman Nusrat-ul-Islam, Anjuman Mazharul Haq, Jamiat-ul-Aaima Wal Ulema, Anjuman Aaima Wa Mashaaikh Kashmir, Darul Uloom Naqshbandia, Darul Uloom Rasheedia, Ahle Bayt Foundation, Madrasa Kanz-ul-Uloom, Peerwaan-e-Wilayat, Auqaf Islamia Khurram Sirhama, Bazm-e-Tawheed Ahle Hadeeth Trust, Anjuman Tanzeem-al-Makatib, Muhammadi Trust, Anjuman Anwar-ul-Islam, Kaarwaan-e-Khatam-e-Nabuwat, Darul Uloom Syed Al Mursaleen, Anjuman Ulema and Aaima Masaajid, Falah Darainn Trust Welfare Society Islamabad, Idara Wahdat-ul-Makaatib Jammu Kashmir and Darul Uloom Imdaadiya Natipora.—KMS
