KARACHI – The mystery surrounding Mir Raza’s case is evolving as a DNA match with his parents provided a crucial confirmation and it opened the door to more questions. With key investigative steps still under scrutiny and possible threats now being examined, the search for answers continues.
Serious questions are being raised over the investigation into the death of Karachi youth Mir Raza, as further alleged lapses by police have come to light.
The investigation into death of entrepreneur Mir Raza Ali has taken a new turn after forensic findings reportedly revealed the presence of a substance in his blood consistent with the effects of a sedative or incapacitating drug.
Sources familiar with the matter said the findings have been included in the forensic investigation, potentially offering investigators a new lead into the events that preceded Mir Raza Ali’s death.
Investigative officials revealed that several days after the incident, key investigative steps had still not been completed. The scene of the incident had reportedly not been geo-fenced, while Mir Raza’s mobile phone data record had also not yet been obtained.
The geo-fencing of the scene will be carried out today, while efforts are underway to obtain details of Mir Raza’s mobile data record. Investigators have also obtained information concerning a guesthouse described as suspicious, adding another element to the ongoing probe.
The inquiry committee has received the forensic report concerning his shirt, with two separate areas of analysis now coming to light.
One examination reportedly detected gunshot residue (GSR) on the shirt. According to sources, the residue was more concentrated on the back of the garment. Investigators are examining the significance of the finding, as GSR can be associated with areas close to a gunshot wound.
The examination also identified traces of hydrochloric acid on parts of the shirt. The significance and origin of these traces remain subject to further investigation. More questions have emerged from the analysis of Mir Raza Ali’s blood. Sources said the samples showed indications consistent with exposure to a sedative or incapacitating substance.
Investigators are now looking into whether he may have been rendered unconscious or otherwise incapacitated before his disappearance. One possibility being examined is whether he was incapacitated and subsequently abducted, although this remains an investigative angle and has not been conclusively established.
Authorities are expected to correlate the forensic findings with other evidence to determine the sequence of events surrounding his disappearance and death.
The forensic work was carried out by the Sindh Forensic DNA and Serology Laboratory (SFDL), sources said.
The latest developments have intensified questions over the pace and direction of the investigation. With geo-fencing, mobile data analysis, smartwatch forensics and cybercrime inquiries now being pursued, investigators are expected to examine Mir Raza’s movements, digital activity and possible contacts in greater detail.
