Acid traces have been found in the stomach of deceased businessman Mir Raza Ali, while severe chemical damage was detected in his lungs.
Sources said on Monday that Traces of acid were also found on his hands and feet, while his shirt reportedly contained acid residue and sweat of another person.
Police have sealed a suspicious guesthouse near the crime scene and detained six of its employees, taking the total number of people held in the case to 21. The detainees include Ali’s friends and business associates, whose statements have been recorded.
The findings emerged a day after Ali’s body was exhumed and reburied following a second post-mortem by a medical board.
The initial post-mortem report found that Ali had suffered a gunshot wound to the back and bore multiple signs of violence, including fractured ribs and injuries to his head and face.
An IBA graduate, Ali was found dead in Karachi’s Gulistan-e-Jauhar area last month, a day after he went missing on July 28.
His father has alleged that Ali was murdered and rejected speculation that he died by suicide.
