Karachi Police have formed a five-member committee to investigate the killing of Mir Raza Ali following the exhumation of his body for a post-mortem.
Young businessman went missing on July 28 and his body was found in Karachi’s Gulistan-e-Jauhar area the next day.
According to a notification issued on Sunday, DIG Amir Farooqi will head the committee, while SSP Rapid Response Force (RRF) Ali Raza will serve as secretary.
Other members include SP Investigation Korangi Qais Khan, Central SP Investigation Anum Tajammul and an officer from the Special Investigation Unit (SIU), Zaman Town.
The committee has been directed to examine all aspects of the case, review the investigation conducted so far and determine the circumstances surrounding Ali’s death. Its first meeting will be held at 2pm Monday at the DIG Crime Branch office.
The committee was constituted on the orders of Sindh Inspector General of Police Javed Alam Odho after the previous panel was dissolved.
Medical report reveals multiple injuries
An initial medical report following Ali’s exhumation suggests he was shot from behind and had suffered multiple injuries.
The report found fractured ribs, injuries to the head, face, feet and chest, as well as a deep wound and fracture around the jaw. A 12-centimetre injury and fracture were also detected on his right thigh.
The examination further revealed injuries to the nasal bone, black marks on the body and blood-stained tissue in the lower body. A fracture of the sixth rib was also recorded.
Ali was reburied at a cemetery near Tariq Road after the post-mortem.
