Punjab Minister for Livestock and Dairy Development Department Sardar Shahabuddin Khan visited Ravi Campus of the University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences (UVAS), on Sunday.
He laid the foundation-stone of girls’ hostel for 100 students, named ‘Rabia Basri Hall’.
The hostel is part of the project named ‘Provision of Urgently Needed Male and Female Hostel Facilities at UVAS Ravi Campus Pattoki, funded by the Livestock & Dairy Development Department.
The minister visited various departments at the Ravi campus including ‘Dairy Milk Processing Plant, different section of Prof Dr Akram Complex (Library, Auditorium). He appreciated the effort of the UVAS teachers, its quality of education and state-of-the-art research facilities for imparting practical knowledge to students at the university.
Earlier, Prof Dr Nasim Ahmad briefed the minister about UVAS flood relief activities, research projects and clinical & extension services for livestock farming community to solve their issues. He also said that the UVAS was working closely with poultry, dairy food and meat industries.
The minister, along with other officers of the Livestock Department, planted a sapling on the campus.
UVAS Project Director Shahnawaz Bukhari, Principal Officer Ravi Campus Dr Arshad Javid, Dr Hafeez-ur-Rehman and number of senior faculty members of the university were present.
