Retailers in several areas of Karachi have unilaterally increased the price of milk by Rs. 10 per kilogram, defying directives from the Commissioner’s office. In parts of Shah Faisal Town, milk is being sold at Rs. 210 and Rs. 220 per kilogram.
Despite the Commissioner’s order to refrain from increasing milk prices, retailers have hiked rates across various neighborhoods, including Johar, Gulshan-e-Iqbal, DHA, and Bahadurabad. The failure to control milk prices in Karachi has led to frustration among residents, with Commissioner Karachi removing the official price list from the government website. As a result, many shopkeepers are now setting prices independently, further exacerbating the situation.
