The All Parties Hurriyat Conference Azad Jammu and Kashmir (APHC-AJK) chapter General Secre-tary, Sheikh Abdul Mateen, has expressed serious concern over the surge in Indian state terrorism in illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir.

In a statement issued in Islamabad, Sheikh Abdul Mateen strongly denounced the killings, illegal ar-rests, molestation of women and destruction of houses and other properties by Indian troops to sup-press the Kashmiris’ ongoing freedom struggle.

The APHC-AJK leader said the Kashmiri people are rendering unparalleled sacrifices for their birthright, the right to self-determination, and they will continue their struggle till they achieve their goal. He condemned the nefarious intentions of India to convert the Muslim majority of the occupied territory into a minority.

Sheikh Mateen paid rich tribute to the Kashmiri martyrs and praised the determination and courage of Hurriyat leaders, activists and youth illegally detained in Indian jails and torture centres. He appealed to the United Nations to play its role for the immediate release of Kashmiri detainees including the APHC Chairman Masarrat Aalam Butt, Shabbir Ahmad Shah, Muhammad Yasin Malik, Aasiya Andrabi, Nayeem Ahmad Khan, Molvi Bashir Ahmed, Bilal Siddiqi, Pir Saifullah, Raja Merajuddin Kalwal, Ayaz Muhammad Akbar, Shahidul Islam, Farooq Ahmed Dar, Fehmeeda Sofi, Naheeda Nasreen and Mushtaqul Islam.—KMS
