LAHORE – The Lahore High Court (LHC) on Friday nullified the detention of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader and member of the Azad Kashmir Legislative Assembly, Ghulam Mohiuddin Dewan and ordered his immediate release.
Justice Asjad Javed Gharal of the Lahore High Court heard the petition filed by Ghulam Mohiuddin’s wife, Saba Diwan. Barrister Mian Ali Ashfaq and Advocate Rana Maroof appeared in court on behalf of the petitioner.
The Punjab government’s lawyer stated that they had scheduled the petition for hearing on Monday. However, the Lahore High Court expressed displeasure at the Punjab government’s response, asking, “What material do you have to justify the detention?”
The Lahore High Court declared the detention of PTI leader and member of the Azad Kashmir Assembly, Ghulam Mohiuddin, null and void, ordering his immediate release.
On 17th September, Lahore Police arrested Ghulam Mohiuddin Diwan, a member of the Azad Kashmir Assembly and PTI leader.
The sources said that Ghulam Mohiuddin Diwan was attending a Milad onference at Minhaj-ul-Quran and was arrested upon his return from the event.
According to PTI, Ghulam Mohiuddin is currently on bail in all cases and is not wanted in any of them.
