Lahore Experiences Coldest Day As Temperature Dips To 02c

Lahore experienced the coldest day of the current winter season with mercury dropping as low as 02°C on Monday.

Moderate to dense fog/smog continued to persist in Lahore and the plain areas of the province.

According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), continental air prevails over most parts of Pakistan. A shallow westerly wave prevails over the upper parts of the country.

Under these conditions, mainly cold and dry weather is expected in Lahore and most districts of Punjab on Monday evening and night, as well as on Tuesday. Freezing weather is expected in Murree, Galyat and the upper districts.

Moderate to dense fog will likely persist over Sialkot, Narowal, Jhelum, Gujranwala, Gujrat, Lahore, Sheikhupura, Okara, Kasur, Sahiwal, Khanewal, Faisalabad, Jhang, Mianwali, Layyah, Bhakkar, Noorpur Thal, Dera Ghazi Khan, Rajanpur, Shorkot, Multan, Kot Addu, Bahawalnagar, Khanpur, Bahawalpur and Rahim Yar Khan. Frost will likely occur at a few places in the Potohar region during morning hours.

Lahore’s minimum temperature will likely remain between 01°C and 03°C on Tuesday and between 02°C and 04°C on Wednesday.

Meanwhile, mainly cold and dry weather prevailed in Lahore and most districts of Punjab during the last 24 hours. Freezing weather prevailed in Murree, Galyat and the upper districts. Moderate to dense fog/smog persisted in Lahore and the plains of Punjab.

Murree remained the coldest place in the province, where the temperature dropped 01°C below the freezing point. Relative humidity in the morning was recorded at 56 per cent.

The minimum temperature in Chakwal was recorded at 0°C, and in Sahiwal, Faisalabad and Dera Ghazi Khan at 01°C.

In Lahore, the minimum temperature was recorded at 02°C. Relative humidity in the morning was recorded at 91 per cent.
