Karachi experiences coldest day as chilly weather prevails in Sindh

Karachi experienced the coldest day of the ongoing winter season as mercury dropped to 08°C on Monday.

Amid cold conditions, moderate to dense fog continued to persist in the upper Sindh.

According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), continental air prevails over most parts of Pakistan. A shallow westerly wave prevails over the upper parts of the country.

Under these conditions, mainly cold and dry weather is expected in Karachi, Hyderabad and most districts of Sindh on Monday evening and night, as well as on Tuesday and Wednesday. Moderate to dense fog will likely persist over Sukkur, Rohri, Shikarpur, Kashmore, Nawabshah, Dadu, Larkana, Tando Jam and Mohenjo-Daro.

Karachi’s minimum temperature will likely remain between 07°C and 09°C on Tuesday and between 08°C and 10°C on Wednesday.

Hyderabad’s minimum temperature will likely remain between 04°C and 06°C on Tuesday and between 05°C and 07°C on Wednesday.

Meanwhile, mainly cold and dry weather prevailed in Karachi, Hyderabad and most districts of the province during the last 24 hours. Moderate to dense fog/smog persisted in the upper Sindh.

Mithi remained the coldest place in the province, where the temperature dropped to the freezing point (0°C). The minimum temperature in Mohenjo-Daro and Dadu was recorded at 02°C, in Sukkur at 03°C, and in Nawabshah at 03°C.

In Karachi, the minimum temperature was recorded at 08°C. Relative humidity in the morning was recorded at 44 per cent.

In Hyderabad, the minimum temperature was recorded at 05°C. Relative humidity in the morning was recorded at 85 per cent.
