PESHAWAR – The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has introduced an electronic driving licence system, allowing residents to carry their driving credentials digitally on their mobile phones.
The initiative has been launched under the province’s digital governance efforts, in collaboration with the Transport Department, KPITB, and the Dastak digital platform.
Officials said the move is aimed at providing more efficient, transparent, and convenient public services.
Under the new system, driving licences will now be available in electronic form and can be accessed through mobile devices at any time.
Authorities stated that the digital licence will be accepted by police, government departments, and courts.
The e-driving licence includes a secure QR code that allows instant online verification within seconds, reducing the risk of forgery or tampering.
Officials added that the system is designed to improve security and eliminate the need to carry a physical licence.
The provincial government described the initiative as part of its broader vision for digital transformation and improved e-governance, aimed at making public services faster, simpler, and more accessible for citizens.
