The Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) Karachi interim head, MunimZaffar, has launched scathing criticism against the Sindh government, denouncing its handling of the K-IV water supply project as a form of cruelty towards the residents of Karachi. Zaffar’s remarks come in response to a report indicating that Karachiites may continue to face water scarcity, even if the first phase of the K-IV project is completed next year. Assuming his duties at Idara Noor-e-Haq, the JI Karachi headquarters, Zaffar attributed the dire situation to the Pakistan People’s Party government in Sindh, along with the MuttahidaQaumi Movement and their associates. Citing media reports, Zaffar highlighted deficiencies in the Karachi Water Corporation’s supply mechanism, which may hinder the distribution of water from the K-IV project.
Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) Karachi interim head, MunimZaffar lamented the prevailing conditions as indicative of governmental apathy, mismanagement, corruption, and a lack of concern for the well-being of Karachi and its residents.
Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) Karachi interim head, MunimZaffar reminisced about JI’s previous efforts, noting that Naimatullah Khan had spearheaded the K-III project and laid the groundwork for the K-IV water supply initiative to meet future demands. Originally budgeted at Rs25 billion with a capacity of 650 million gallons per day, Zaffar revealed that the K-IV project’s capacity was later reduced to 260 million gallons per day, while its cost soared to Rs120 billion.
Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) Karachi interim head, MunimZaffar characterized the K-IV project as a stark example of the feudal mindset’s disregard for society at large. Demanding urgent action, the JI leader called upon the government to expedite the completion of the project at its originally intended capacity of 650 million gallons per day.
