More intermittent monsoon rains with heavy downpours are expected in Islamabad, Rawalpindi, and parts of Pakistan on Friday night and Saturday.
According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), strong moist currents are penetrating the upper and central parts of Pakistan. A Westerly wave is also affecting upper parts of the country and is likely to persist till tomorrow.
Under these conditions, more intermittent monsoon rains are expected in Islamabad, Rawalpindi and parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, upper/central Punjab, Gilgit-Baltistan and Kashmir on Friday night and Saturday.
Jeavy to very heavy rainfall is also likely during the period. Hot and humid weather is expected in southern parts of the country.
Downpour may cause urban flooding in Islamabad/Rawalpindi, Mardan, Swabi, Peshawar, Gujranwala, Gujrat, Lahore and Sialkot. Heavy rains may generate flash flooding in local streams/nullahs of Kashmir, Murree, Galiyat, Islamabad/Rawalpindi and Pothohar region including Nulla Lai.
Heavy rainfall may cause landslides in hilly areas of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Gilgit-Baltistan, Murree, Galiyat and Kashmir.
Islamabad’s daytime temperatures are expected to remain between 31°C and 33°C on Saturday and Sunday.
Rawalpindi’s daytime temperatures are expected to remain between 32°C and 34°C on Saturday and Sunday.
Over the past 24 hours, rains with isolated heavy falls occurred in Islamabad, upper/central Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan. Hot and humid weather prevailed over southern parts of the country.
